  • Important — Social Media & Speech Alert: What to do now DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR READ WHILE ON GOVERNMENT PROPERTY AND OR WHILE ON GOVERNMENT TIME
    Updated On: Sep 23, 2025

    Brothers and Sisters,

My apologies, however I just got off the phone (2:17am) with an employee and felt immediate action should be taken to safe guard you..and no we never sleep.

Please be aware: following the untimely death of Charlie Kirk, public posts and comments about him — whether positive or negative — are being heavily monitored and widely trolled. Several employees... citizens who have exercised their right of freedom of speech posted, commented, or even liked content are now being placed on administrative leave while investigations proceed.

To protect yourself and your coworkers, do the following immediately:

    1. Delete any posts, comments, or shares related to this matter from your social media accounts.

    2. DO NOT “like” or otherwise engage with posts about this matter — even a like can be used as evidence.

    3. Preserve evidence: before deleting, take screenshots of your posts and of any harassment/trolling you received (date/time stamps visible). Save copies to a personal device (not a work device).

    4. Document: write a short note (date/time) about what you posted, when, and whether anyone encouraged you to post. Keep this for your records.

    5. If you are contacted by management, or HR politely request personal representation and do NOT provide a statement until you have a personal representative or attorney present. Ask that any meeting or interview be scheduled in writing.

    6. If placed on administrative leave, contact us immediately — do not sign anything without a personal representative present.

    7. We are in ongoing dialogue with our attorneys. We will provide additional guidance as it becomes available.

This is serious — social media activity and even passive engagement (likes/shares) are being used as grounds for administrative action. Take the steps above now.

    In Solidarity,
    Cynthia Boston-Thompson
    President, AFGE Local 507
